IMPACT Fellows also have access to an 1871 shared workspace and other incubators throughout the course of the program.



Sunshine Enterprises



Sunshine Enterprises' goal is to empower high-potential entrepreneurs living in underresourced neighborhoods to expand their businesses and transform their community. The way to achieve this is through their 12 week Community Business Academy, and the continuous Business Acceleration Service support, such as workshops and microgrants, as well as training.




Sunshine offers entrepreneurs the financial support that can be the biggest barrier to starting or expanding their enterprise. Sunshine's Business Coaches work one-on-one with each entrepreneurs to identify what type of financial assistance is needed and develop a strategy to obtain it. Furthermore, Sunshine works with a network of financing partners including Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives, Byline Bank, CIBC Bank and Wintrust Community Bank among many other organizations.




Rising Tide Capital's concept serves as the foundation for this organization's operation; President Obama has acknowledged their impact on the lives of people and reviving communities through their Community Business Academy, with 94% of the graduates go on to establish new jobs and businesses following their graduation from the program.




Sunshine Enterprises also provides support for local entrepreneurs through UChicago Local. This partnership between the University and UChicago Medicine enables realigning procurement departments so as to use more local vendors who offer competitive bids, helping to grow small businesses in the Chicago economy while simultaneously contributing to social initiatives within the University. UChicago Local also links local entrepreneurs served through Sunshine Enterprises with other programming including Chicago Innovation Exchange or Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship in Law School and expands opportunities.



Incubatoredu



INCubatoredu offers students the chance to experiment with entrepreneurship, by creating their own startup. Students are assisted by a mentor or coach during each class to help them with the projects they are working on, like cleanable shoe inserts, as well as apps for social networking.




Students will learn to improve their concepts as they progress throughout the curriculum. This includes conducting market research, idea and customer research, prototyping, and pitches. This process helps develop the ability to communicate and solve problems in addition to teaching students how to quickly change to new circumstances.
